More baptism picture and respect the elders picture - 5/28/19

That time I drove to Tacoma in a tiny car

Big news this week, I did 3 baptismal interviews this week! And the work is progressing like crazy, first on Tuesday I did an all day exchange with ASL S to interview one of their baptismal candidates (I'm the only Elder who hasn't taught her, and the mission president likes to have elders who haven't taught the person interview them) and I spent the whole day with my son, Elder Luckau and one of his zone leaders Elder Ward, taught some lessons and got Cafe Rio for lunch and Buffalo wild wings for dinner 😂 both have awesome specials on Tuesday so missionaries love those!
Then wendesday I interviewed a man in downtown Seattle and exchanged with Elliot Bay elders, spent Thursday in downtown Seattle preaching the word, it was a great day! Lots of crazy people, lots of fun people, lots of ready people. Then Saturday I exchanged with Discovery Park elders and interviewed one of their people, that area is all really wealthy people and that's harder to teach in but it was a good day too!
It's really great because the stake president here just stresses having the YSA Wards be a focus because historically they have baptized the most. But now the family Wards are taking over and it's so hype!! Seattle is fire right now!
I love being here, the crazy people just add flavor! We got yelled at by a catholic guy as we crossed the street, he stopped us at an intersection and started going off about how "you aren't elders, I'm an elder" meaning old, and we started explaining but he just wasn't having it so we started walking away, which is the point when he started walking with us and asked for money... Which we didn't have any money and that made him really mad and he started screaming and swearing at us in the middle of the intersection! Then we walked around the corner to our apartment - and he was still yelling - and Elder Nuttall was having struggles with the key and I was like "Elder! Hurry he's coming!" and scared Elder Nuttall, it was awesome
Then yesterday we went to Tacoma for the baptism of the deaf lady I interviewed on Tuesday and got a ride from an awesome member of the Thornton Creek ward and I exchanged with Elder Lund and Elder Allmendinger, it was good to be with them both again! But the car was so tiny, it was really funny, the drive was a lot of fun! So awesome!
I love the Lord and I love the work!!

That time we had a clutch Sunday

So the whole time I've been in Thornton Creek we have been picking up this area, finding lots of people, teaching lots of lessons, and trying, truly trying to help these people get to church and it has worked a little bit, we have had a person at church every so often, but yesterday we had three of the people we are teaching come to church! And a returning member too!! Thomas, David, Nick, and Ken! It was so exciting and the bishop was just smiling at us from the stand, and several members came up to us and thanked us for our work.... So that's good news, members are getting excited for missionary work and we are anticipating more of that the more we show them how much we care about this area! So it's super exciting here in Seattle this week... Other than that, on Saturdays the whole zone plays basketball with the people we are teaching, and I hit a game winning three so I'm coming for you Dakota 💪🏼
We had a guy walk up to us while we were at a bus stop who immediately asked the question "how old is your religion?" which we answered by teaching part of the Restoration about the earthly ministry of Jesus Christ and the great apostasy and Restoration through Joseph Smith, and then I asked "why do you ask?" and he said "I just wanted to see if you knew" - and folks I've been on my mission for long enough now that I can tell when someone just wanted to try to tear our faith down and the Spirit told me that he was not telling the truth so I said "no really, why did you ask the question" and Elder Nuttall said I was pretty "fiery" and this guy got upset with me, because basically I was calling him a liar and then asked us random questions about how many converts and somehow found out about the church being established in a really rich part of the city and he was like "the rich people are falling for this stuff?" and we were like, they know it's true! It was pretty funny, and when I got really stern with him he totally backed down and stopped messing with us, it felt good to follow the Spirit and be bold with someone, I don't have a lot of time left and I'm not wasting any time on people who are only seeking to tear down the truth.
Other things, this week we have talked about baptism with a lot of people and from that we basically have found who is ready to meet with us and those who are not, and we have a lot of people excited for baptism! So that's awesome!
It was just a really good week this week, full of lessons and solid invitations. I love being a servant of God. I love Him and I love His work.
Love you! 🤟

More pictures - 5/13/19

That time it was hot, and Elder Nuttall hurt his elbow

Big news this week, it was crazy hot.... And by that I mean 85°...so not too crazy haha.
But I was on exchanges with the zone leaders, Elder Lund and Elder Faisal, yup, Elder Lund is my zone leader again. But I was with Elder Faisal, it was good, we talked with a lot of people.
Elder Nuttall broke someone's face with his elbow but his elbow hurt more than their face so he went to the hospital and they got a sling for him 😂😂
We tracted into a transgender person and talked with a lot of crazy people like we do here in Seattle, but there every once in a while was a solid contact and those feel good all the time
In other news we tracted into a woman who had a sign on her door that said "Faith is a road to anywhere, and therefore it is a road to nowhere", she wanted to have a full blown philosophical debate and I totally would have except the field is white already to harvest and she wasn't about to learn for real she just wanted to argue, but faith is a path to one person, Jesus Christ and in the scriptures he explains what we can do to follow him and walk along the path. His gospel is clear, I invite you all to follow it.
Love you!

Baptism - 5/6/19

Also we did charcoal facemasks
And the insoles of my shoes got worn out like crazy...

That time it was a good week

Hello Everyone!! It was a good day today and we are working on helping more people come to church. We have found a lot of new people in the past month and just working on helping them to come and see!!
Tuesday we had a great day! and found a new friend on exchanges.
Thursday we taught many lessons and stayed out of the apartment all day! It was great!!!
Friday weekly planned and that was good
Saturday we played basketball with some people we were teaching and I have gotten pretty good to say the least, someone told me I was the 4th best person there, and if thats not the nicest thing i've ever heard I don't know what is!
Sunday we had a baptism in the asl branch and they asked me to baptize so that was awesome!!! and lots of meetings and lessons were great!!
Things are going well in Thornton Creek, the church is growing.
I love the work of the Lord,
I love you all!!

New companion - 4/29/19

That time we got lessons canceled

So we have a new transfer ladies and gentlemen! *not my last one* but everyone at transfers was asking me if I was going home this transfer, I was like nope!! Swerved that one! 🚗 But I'm still kicking it here in Thornton Creek ward with my new companion Elder Nuttall from Little Rock, Arkansas. It has been great! We have had a lot of fun, interesting fact, this is my first companion who knows anything really about basketball so that has been great, we have played a lot of ball.
Anyways, fun story of this week, Friday we had 6 lessons scheduled, one at 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm, 7pm, and 8pm. So basically every hour of the day not taken up by 1- weekly planning time and 2- the areas prime finding time of 5-7pm. And 5 of them cancelled, the only one that worked was at 1pm and even he almost cancelled and we ended up doing that one over the phone. But that was crazy, but we went out and fortunately that morning we had done really well and planned solid backups for everything, and found a new friend David who is just so ready for the gospel and then we helped our other friend Thomas accept to be baptized!!! So we turned the day around and later Elder Nuttall said that he felt like Alma the Younger in Alma 8:18, who after being rejected in Ammonihah and then told by an angel to go back "returned speedily" and that's what we did, blessings!

Fun fact number 1 - Elder Nuttall and I figured out our ship name, Elder Nutmeg. Why? Because in this mission everyone is constantly trying to kick things in between their companions, legs, and when we found that out we freaked out.
Fun fact 2 - we figured out I might be the best baller in the WEM, why? We were playing Saturday and Elder Nuttall was sitting while I played and he was trying to get me to shoot it to tie the game up, so he said "Pull up best baller in the WEM" so I pulled up and drained it, it was awesome😂😂

But in all seriousness I know that this is the work of the Lord and we are guided and protected by Him and His Holy Spirit, I love being a missionary there is no place I would rather be than here right now. My call is truly from a prophet of God and I know that Jesus is the Christ and the Savior of the world.

Love you all!
