Family Discover Center - 7/23/18

Us at the family discovery center, it's super cool.

That time these shoes went out together

Well everyone, we had a very good week this week, we talked with a few new deaf people and we actually have many people to work with now! It's been nuts! Two new people to work and some really interesting contacts were had!
Tuesday we were on exchanges, I was with Elder Lund, he is a great missionary and we worked a lot in Des Moines and Burien, which are some really... Fun areas. Lots of... Fun people, I love it there! I love talking with so many people all the time and just sharing the gospel, it's the best. Then Wednesday Elder Madsen and I apparently signed up for a new game show "Who can talk to the most Hispanics in under an hour" and I'm pretty sure we won, we talked with 2 guys one was really interested, boom referral. Then one lady walking down the street wanted to meet missionaries, boom referral. Then the first two guys told us where we could go to talk with many people, we went and we met 7 drunk Hispanics at 3pm on a Wednesday, so awesome! No referrals from there but it was interesting! Then one last guy as we were walking back to our car, so fun.
Thursday zone conference, so good, learned how to use the Book of Mormon and also the Spirit taught me to really figure out why investigators sometimes don't keep commitments instead of just being sad they didn't keep it, and that actually helped a lot this week! Then Friday elder Madsen had a doctor's appointment and he doesn't have carpal tunnel! Let's go! That, traffic, and weekly planning was our day. Saturday we met some other people, it was good. Sunday was church, gotta love it. Manny came, he is awesome!
This week was just a week that made me all excited to be a missionary again, not that I wasn't but it just added to the fire and I'm so stoked to be out here, teaching people and helping them recognize how Jesus Christ can help them through their struggles, it is such an awesome experience to witness that every day. Preach My Gospel says that we(missionaries) have a front row seat to the greatest miracle of all, the effect of Christ's Atonement in people's lives, I'm paraphrasing but it truly is the best. I love being a missionary! I know that this work is the Lord's. Oh also my caption is what it is because Elder Madsen stepped on the back of my foot the other day and the bottom of my shoe ripped off, so he gave me a pair he never uses #thankseldermadsen. And then he just said to me "this is the first time these shoes have ever gone out together". It was a strange sentence. But such is life

New mission area - 7/16/18

We took a wrong turn and went to a strange mission office

That time I got a new companion

Whaaa?? So this week my new companion is.......... Elder Madsen!! We got emergency transferred and I am still ASL South, Elder Allmendinger and Elder Camillo Gois are North now. President Wilding switched us because of Elder Madsen's wrists. Second thing that's pretty cool is that President Nelson and President Eyring are coming to Seattle on Sept. 15th for a huge devotional and I've been asked to interpret for that! Still don't know details but that's pretty cool!
Let's see... Other things it's just been kind of a slow kind of fast week, one of those weird ones where stuff happens but you forget everything, but we found 2 new investigators this week! One of them is lady we met whose daughter is deaf and she told us to come back, the other is a referral from Vancouver ASL. Manny came to church, Letitia is doing well.
Elder Madsen and I are doing great, been companions for about 3 days but we are doing good! Elder Madsen feels weird to be in his first area with me instead of Elder Bird but oh well!
Oh! Joel Hernandez, he was baptized in December but he is finally going to the temple for baptisms this Saturday! Super excited!!!
All is well in Seattle, everyone complains that it is too hot all the time now but we're just not used to the sun anymore so oh well. Anyways love you all! Have a good week!

That time I met a real Canadian

Hello all! I can't tell if this week felt like a day or felt like a month. Mission time is strange. But we had a great week here in ASL S! With lots of meeting new deaf people!! Those are the best weeks, and they were guided by the Spirit, we were going to go visit some members earlier in the week and saw one of them out front talking with some dude so we went up and talked with them, he is Samoan and he plays football for Gallaudet, this guy is really big. And since he is Samoan he has family who are members, so we talked with him and we got his address he told us we could come visit so we are excited! Then right after that we talked with another one of our memberd who lives in that complex and he was on the VP with a lady from Chicago who wanted to learn! Then yesterday we got a really solid referral from the sister ASL missionaries in Vancouver!! Let's go!!! That is what happens when you pray with faith that you will find people or they will find you! It happens, because the Lord's got our back. Other big things this week, talked with President Wilding about ASL specific things, twas good! Umm it's becoming an ASL stereotype in our zone that to be an ASL missionary you have to be sick or injured because of just a plethora of problems, but we are all OK! Just slightly maimed;) just kidding mom, we are fine. Other cool thing, played dungeons and dragons on Wednesday, that was pday BTW. We are just trying to keep in touch with many deaf people, its great! Oh yeah the Canadian, one of our friends Manny, his friend is named Bruno, has been calling and texting us almost everyday but he lives in Vancouver BC, but we actually got to meet him face to face! He is so nice! But really I just love being a missionary, being out here is such a great opportunity and seeing the Lord answer our prayers and others prayers, because He does answer our prayers!
Love you all!

That time I got transferred

Hola!
So I didn't actually get transferred but I'm in a whole other mission so it counts. Monday night I fell asleep in the Washington Seattle Mission, and Tuesday morning I woke up in the Washington Everett Mission... Which still happens to cover all of downtown Seattle. Yup you heard me, the Everett mission covers Seattle. And the Seattle mission doesn't... Don't ask me I just work here. But we all think Heavenly Father is having a laugh a little bit. Anyways, Tuesday we met President and Sister Wilding. They are so awesome! He is about 20 years younger than President Schofield so it's different but they are so nice and we are all so excited to be working with them!
Other than that not a ton happened, just got in touch with some people and invited them all to come to chrich or to meet with us, we followed up with a lot of potentials and they all are willing to meet with us so we will work with them and help them come unto Christ!!!
I ate a gyro this week and baklava, I was on exchanges with and Elder whose family is from Greece so he wanted to eat Greek food, sooooo good! I went on 2 exchanges this week and we were able to get some solid work done, most likely with transfers this week all of the zone will be staying which is kinda weird but we will roll with it. Really this week has been a normal week, but now we are getting a lot of different things from the Everett mission that we are trying to mesh with, kinda stressful but that is so alright because it keeps us all pushing ourselves to be better! Everett mission is awesome though, I love it here!
Alma 26:22. Repent, exercise faith, have good works, and pray without ceasing. These are the things we need to do to receive revelation and help each other feel the light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This week I will be trying my best to do these things and I want to commit everyone at home to try these as well and see what good comes of it! I know that the Lord will bless you for your efforts in trying to draw closer to Him! If there is anything I know now it is that our Heavenly Father loves us more than we even know. I feel it every day when I meet random people on the street, Heavenly Father loves all of his children, no exceptions.
Love you all like this much!

That time my Mission President was taken up into Utah

Welllllll, that's that, President Schofield is gone, well not really yet. President Schofield it was his last week this week. We had a lit Zone conference this week. But it all started out with a sweet exchange with my old buddy Elder bird. We got to do some service for a guy from the Philippines, he was really nice he took us to go get pho, soooo good. That stuff was delicious if you haven't had Vietnamese food go get Vietnamese food. Elder bird was sick though, but we had a pretty good exchange with some good lessons. Wednesday I'll be honest I do not remember probably because nothing cool happened because there's so much other lit stuff this week. Thursday was Zona conference, Elder Allmendinger and I went to go and wash our car early and then we lost the gold plates bummer. Don't conference is really good though a lot of great trainings in the morning we had a day in the life of a missionary as missionaries. That was pretty neat I was really excited to try different ways of contacting people. Then president and sister Schofield gave their last testimonies at Zone conference. Friday we got a referral for a deaf lady. Set up an appointment to go do service. Saturday really good stake conference adult session. Sunday more stake Conference and member missionary Fireside, oh so good, I got to interpret for some deafies, one of them was Letitia. She really felt the spirit yesterday, it was good. This week was really really good I'm sad to see President Schofield go. He's a great man. I know that the leaders of the church are called of God for the people that they lead I'm grateful that God calls Prophets and gives us revelation. If you want to learn more about God read the scriptures, especially the Book of Mormon. Faith is fire!!!!!!! Love you all!!!!! Have a good week.
