Service - 1/30/18

Elder Schoemig and Elder Gois painted for a non member deaf/blind lady.  :)

That time I be transferred

I know we all thought it wouldn't come, but I have been transferred to ASL South, which believe it or not is a bigger area. Exciting stuff! I'm looking forward to going to work and finding some deaf people!
Besides that, nothing has happened, Elder Camillo Gois and I were working hard to end the transfer and things look great for ASL North for this transfer, ASL South has been working hard this last transfer and we will continue that into this transfer and things look absolutely amazing in ASL South! So I'm pumped for this! Thats it!
The Savior love us so much and there is nothing that we do that puts us out of His reach, turn to Him in your struggles and He will help you!
Have a great week!

That time we had a ridiculous amount of lessons

Elder Camillo Gois and I stayed busy this week! We had so many lessons and quite a few new investigators! So we have been amazingly blessed, this is the Lord's work!
So this week, we saw a lot of rain, some crazy people, some crazy miracles and some good times.
Monday we had a lesson, with Randy, he is this guy that has come to the branch's monthly potluck for years but was always anti, and Elder Camillo Gois says he likes me so when I asked him if we could teach him the lessons he said yes
Tuesday we tried to teach a preacher which was pretty cool, this preacher has the biggest deaf church in Washington basically, almost everyone we meet is like, I already go to Nick's church, dah! So we went to try to teach him, and it actually went really well except he refuses to read the Book of Mormon, we will keep working on it
Wednesday got taught about Buddhist stuff by a CODA, pretty interesting
Thursday it rained and all of our appointments fell through
Friday it rained and all of our appointments fell through, except for Joel, Joel is awesome:)
Saturday we had no finding time because of appointments and they all went pretty ok
Sunday it rained a lot and we went to Bellingham
That was my week! Trust in the lord in everything! He LOVES you!

Mom's note:  He now knows he got a brand new niece that was born three days ago.  :)  He is excited about it.  Also I got an interesting email from Elder Schoemig concerning what is happening with the Washington Federal Way mission.  As you all know, he and three other ASL missionaries served in four missions.  This will be interesting to see what happen.  Read below about the Washington Federal Way mission.

We have big news this week Mom, as of July 1, 2018, the Washington Federal Way mission is being dissolved, which means that the Washington Seattle mission is growing, and also losing some stakes. So right now the Seattle North, Shoreline and Bothell stakes are in the Seattle mission, but on July 1 they will transfer to the Everett mission, and so will all the missionaries serving in those stakes, meaning they will no longer serve in the WSM but the will be in the Washington Everett Mission. What does this mean for me? Honestly no idea, but seeing as I am an ASL missionary and the ASL branch is in the Shoreline stake, most likely I will be transferring missions to become a part of the WEM, don't worry about it though, the 12 apostles have got this on lock so no problems, and we will have to wait until the transfer before July 1 to know for sure where I will be.

Brother and Sister Picture - 1/15/18

That time we had zone conference

Zone conference is some of my favorite times on a mission, you learn a lot from mission leaders and other missionaries! It is awesome! This time we had trainings on 4 different things; planning, helping people keep commitments, seeking referrals, and the Book of Mormon, and then Elder Camillo Gois and I took these things we learned and went to work and saw miracles!! It was awesome!!
Love you all! Have a great week!

That time it was a pretty normal week 2

So that was this week, not much has gone down since I last emailed. We went tracting a lot, street contacting a lot, met some nice people, met some not so nice people, a week in the life of an average everyday LDS missionary. It was great! But some interesting stories

1) We went to Mt. Vernon and tracted where we think there is a deaf lady, and met a guy who only believes in science, he was hearing so it was very interesting for me to try to interpret someone anti-ing us

2) We went to Mt. Vernon another day to visit a less active member, and her non member friend was there! and we taught the Plan of Salvation and now she wants to learn more! Thats whats up.

3) One of our investigators told us there is a deaf lady that works at Fred Meyer near his home, so we went and met a random deaf lady at Fred Meyer, she's not interested....yet....

Anyway, twas a great week!

Also congrats to Sister Schoemig, my sister, she goes home this week. But shout to her for being an awesome missionary and absolutely killing it in West Virginia! Love you!

Love you all! Have a good week!

Baptism - 1/2/18

That time Joel got baptized

Alright I'll be honest I feel a little guilty because I haven't told anyone about this super awesome deaf-blind guy we got referred to! Joel is the best ever! His brother is a hearing member who referred him to us and helped us teach, but we met him Dec 11 and he was baptized Dec 31, how you may ask? Cuz he is awesome, and Heavenly Father is awesome, and the Spirit testifies of truth. And also some intervention of President Schofield letting us move up his baptismal date because of stake conference, but yeah he was baptized! So awesome! He was so excited! Also tons of members showed up for his baptism even though no one had ever met him before! It was a weird situation, but Joel was so happy and so were we!!!!
Anyway, we had a good week, lots of meeting new deaf people, getting some referrals which is cool, and now we have a list of people who all told us to come back after New Years, so lets go for 2018!
Its going to be a great year!
Also on New Years we found this cool place in Bellevue where we could see Seattle over Capitol Hill, so that was cool.
Also happy 2018 everybody, make this new year better than any other year! How? The gospel of Jesus Christ, that's how! The gospel will improve our lives and make them better than anything else, that is the key to peace in this life and eternal joy in the next life so do your best to stay on the path! Love you all!
