Week 2 at the MTC
Hi Mom and Dad! Just wanted to let you guys know I love you to start my email! But what a crazy week! Probably the hardest week of my two at the MTC so what does that tell ya? No but really. The MTC is amazing, and the spirit is awesome here!
Wednesday, First p day was awesome! It was pretty good I guess, there's lots of stuff to do and it's way busy but the temple is amazing! Love it!
Thursday Read Omni for gift of tongues stuff! How awesome! I learned about becoming truly converted to my people I'll be serving, to be focused on them is to be converted
Friday. Oh and I hyper extended my knee that day too! Awesome! (I'm better now don't worry mom;) Imagine Dragons album dropped that day, I hope it's good, anyway! Learned more about the Book of Mormon! It is so ordained of God, if that makes sense! I love it!
Saturday Awesome discussion about Jesus Christ! About the plan of salvation and Jesus' role and Satan's role in the plan, wow it was cool
Sunday Everyone was freaking out that there were apostles around campus and then a bunch of the Germans thought Elder Uchtdorf was in our building so they were freaking out. That was funny, but the devotional was super awesome!
Monday Kind of a tough day, I wasn't really feeling that well and I kinda was grumpy but it all got better I'm ok now!
Tuesday - the day of Bednar(s) Was so awesome!!! First we had an awesome district meeting where we watched a talk by Elder Bednar about 20 marks that definitely answered my prayers regarding the kind of sadness I was feeling from the day before it was so sweet! Then I gave my first blessing! And the Holy Spirit truly tells you exactly what to say let me just tell you, it is amazing. Then we had a lesson from one of the outgoing mission presidents, President Bednar and his wife, and it was awesome! He told us to rely on the spirit and make sure that we don't plan out everything that we say, it was very special.
And then I saw Jackson Lloyd! (Sorry if I spell his name wrong!) that made my day it was so awesome!!!!!! And then! We went to choir and learned about the Restoration of the church and the martyrdom of Joseph and Hyrum Smith, it was the 173 anniversary by the way, and it was amazing. At the devotional we sang/signed praise to the man and it was amazing! Joseph Smith is definitely a prophet! And the speaker last night was...drumroll....Elder Bednar! Oh but there was also Elders Christofferson, Oaks, Cook, Renlund, Rasband, Stevenson, Anderson, Ballard, and Holland. Wow! Ten apostles! It was astonishing! They testified of the Lord the second they walked in the room! They are truly prophets called of God!
That brings us to today where not much has happened yet, I guess all the dryers are broken though so we have to dry everything by hanging it around our room, it's going to be great! But I am so happy for all the people that have emailed me and talked to me! You never realized how precious email is until you never have anyone but the same 12 people to talk to all day. But it's been great, it definitely doesn't get any easier though it still is tough, but if you keep loving the Lord and keep working to feel closer to Him He will bless you, he is the only one that know us personally and knows how to show us His love for us. But I would love to hear from everyone!
Love you guys so much! You're the best! To anyone struggling, keep going, keep trucking forward, we receive no witness until after the trial of our faith, so just keep believing in the Lord our God and he will strengthen you when you need it, I promise!
To my siblings, you're awesome! I love you guys so much! I'm so proud of you all! You're the best!
I love you all so much!
Love, Elder Schoemig
Mom I could really use one of those tide pen things, some Powerade! You totally were inspired to ask me that last night! And I got a water bottle and packed my flip flops so I don't need those. I might need soap soon though, and I think that's about it!
Anyway Love you Mom and Dad! So proud to be your son! You're the best!!
And I'm so glad you saw Wonder Woman! What an awesome movie! I still get excited! Haha
Oh and good luck to Slater/Elder Lloyd and anyone else who is entering
an MTC this week! You'll do awesome!

First week at the MTC
Hey everyone!!! To answer my mothers questions first, I leave for
Seattle July 25!!! My mailing/shipping address is
Elder Chandler Alma Schoemig
JUL25 WA-SEA
2005 N 900 E Unit 241
Provo UT 84602
I have no idea, I'll talk to my branch president. (Mom's note: this is where I asked him
about skype (calling home) before he fly out to mission field, this
is common especially when you have parents that are both deaf.)
But the MTC is great! We've had two devotionals already, one was Elder
Hallstrom of the presidency of the seventy and another was Donny
Osmond, he was way funny and he even sang let's get down to business
and some girls absolutely freaked out it was so funny. We have one
investigator who we've been teaching its way awesome! So my district
has 13 people, there's Elder Fox, Elder Bishara and Elder Smith, he's
our district leader, they are all going to Fort Worth, Elder Hepner,
Sister Cahoon, and Sister Jarvis, all going to LA, Sister Robinson and
Sister Crowther are going to Washington DC South I think. Elder
Gallagher is going to Riverside California, Elder Downs is going to
New York New York South, Sister Ames is going to Salt Lake City West,
so I think she'll be in Micah's and Sarah's area.. not sure tho. and
Elder Vallalba is going to Anaheim. Now Elder Villalba is from Bolivia
so he is trying to learn English and American Sign Language at the
same time, its amazing! Oh and he's completely deaf as well. But the
MTC has been great! It has been so uplifting and spiritually
enlightening as well! Our teachers are Brother and Sister Peck and
Sister Rice, they're really awesome!
Oh and I'm sorry I don't have pictures on this email, I promise I've
been taking some, I've taken at least 12 so we're getting there, but
right now I don't have a computer to send them on. Speaking of that! I
have a tablet haha, but I will leave it here when I go to Washington
because there is no technology in that mission but at the MTC I have
an iPad! My branch/zone is awesome! We're in a zone with about 35
German missionaries, 26 sisters and about 9 Elders and they are
awesome! But they get kinda rowdy during four square haha.
I've had a blessing for my ankle and I went to the doctor at the
advice of my branch president, it's not broken I just have to wear a
brace and do some stretches and exercises but it looks a lot better!
Umm we also did a blessing for one of the German elders, and it was
awesome! Super spiritual. And then I anointed for Sister Ames to have
a blessing as well and assisted in the blessing with that and then me
and Elder Smith gave Sister Cahoon a blessing as well last night, all
were amazing and priesthood power is real!
Sunday night we watched a video of a talk Elder Bednar gave to the MTC
a few years back and I'll just share what I wrote in my journal haha
"there is nothing in this world that can make you feel worse an an
apostle of the Lord berating you for what feels like hours" it was
crazy, he was talking about being selfish and it was so powerful, our
whole district realized we needed to change how we approach service to
the Lord, because if you look at Christ's life, He never did anything
for himself, he always turned outward so that's what we've been trying
to do. Elder Gallacher is kind of interesting, but it has been nice
getting to know him, he is very science-y which is a very stark
contrast to my Englishness haha, but anyway it's been a little tough
getting him to open up and to talk, especially in sign language but i
think he's starting now. It can be a little tough here because every
day feels like about a week so I feel like I've been here for like a
few months now, but when I look at the German elders I realize how
much I still need to improve.
The mission presidents are coming in today as well as a ton of new
elders and sisters, so we're prepping for that, they warned us that a
ton of apostles will be coming this week but I'm yet to see any yet.
Umm yeah, we are the first district to be in the new building so
that's pretty cool.
But yeah I'm doing pretty good! Everyone write me! Tell me how home is
I would love to hear from anyone! I love you all! Have a good week!
And ask me any questions you want!
Love Elder Schoemig!!
Oh and I need my brown pants, acne stuff, couple extra shirts, and
maybe some candy or something! Haha anyway love you lots!

MTC day, June 14, 2017
Elder Schoemig officially went into the MTC today. It was an emotional day for all of us especially including his two younger brothers. Last time when we took Autumn to the MTC, they didn't cry much. As we will waiting to pull in, Elder Schoemig spotted Elder Schoefield on the sidewalk, he has already went in few weeks ago and how does he know this is because Elder Schoefield was the captain of the Lone Peak football team and so he was so thrilled that he got to be our Elder Schoemig's host! We got picture and it was tender mercies that this happened especially for our son. He was so nervous and he was especially quiet for the past few days. As we were leaving Chick Fil A for his last lunch with the family, he was developing a migraine so I said a prayer for him that he can at least make it through the day which I am sure he will. Another tender mercy is that his big brother Kenny and dad gave him a blessing. Last week he sprained his left ankle pretty good from playing basketball and this past few days, he was hurting alot and so he had asked his dad and Kenny to give him a blessing to help him get through the next couple of weeks with that hurt ankle.
I was going through the instagram and saw Elder Schoemig's last post and I want to post it here and this is favorite scripture and this happened to be his big brother Kenny's favorite scripture and the scripture he use for his mission plague. Elder Schoemig is using the exact same scripture for his plague.

Here are few of more of the pictures from dropping him off at the MTC. We thank you and love you for your support for our son. Looking forward to his weekly report. If you know of anyone that wants to get an email from him, please let me know.
Love,
Heather
